This traditional gluten free Portuguese orange cake is soft, tasty and delicious, full of orange flavour! Cut it into squared and let the party begin!
An incredibly aromatic and soft orange cake, inspired by the flavors of Portugal but reproduced in a gluten-free version, for an irresistible breakfast.
The gluten free Portuguese orange cake is also known as bolo de laranja and is absolutely irresistible! The scent is stunning and the texture is very soft, almost melting in your mouth! Cut into quares, it is ideal for a children’s snack or for a cheerful dessert buffet.
You will need:
- 4 eggs
- 200g of sugar
- The zest of one lemon
- The juice from two oranges
- 250g of gluten free all purpose flour
- 8g of baking powder
- A tsp of vanilla extract
- 120g of vegetable oil
Whip the egg whites until stiff and set aside.
Whis the egg yolks with the orange zest and the sugar until frothy, then add the oil and the orange juice. Also incorporate the flour, baking powder and vanilla extract. Add the whipped egg whites incorporating them with a spatula with delicate movements. Transfer the batter into a brownie pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30/35 minutes.
Let it cool completely before removing from the pan and serve the cake cut into squares.
